Dr. Emily Safronsky, C. Psych.
Psychologist
Dr. Emily Safronsky is a registered School and Clinical Psychologist. Using evidence-based approaches, Dr. Emily Safronsky provides assessment and treatment to children, youth, and their families presenting with a variety of clinical needs, including anxiety disorders, selective mutism, OCD, emotion dysregulation, depression, and other mental health difficulties, which are complicated by ADHD and Learning Disabilities. She also provides parent coaching and consultation to help caregivers support the social, emotional, and behavioural development of their children. Dr. Emily Safronsky strives to tailor services to the unique needs of her clients and thus often integrates components of various approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic Play Therapy, and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).
In addition, Dr. Emily Safronsky also specializes in conducting comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational assessments for children and youth with school-related problems (including learning, attention and intellectual difficulties). She also has experience conducting assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other Developmental Disabilities. As part of her work, Dr. Emily Safronsky consults with and supports families in understanding their child’s learning profile and how their strengths and needs affect their daily functioning. Given her extensive experience in the school board setting, she helps families navigate the educational system when making decisions regarding school and program placement.
Dr. Emily Safronsky received her Doctoral Degree in School and Clinical Child Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) within the University of Toronto. She completed her pre-doctoral residency at The Integra Program (Child Development Institute) and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). Most recently, she spent 2.5 years in the private practice setting at The Red Oak Centre. She has also worked in various hospital and community mental health settings within both day treatment and outpatient programs, including Surrey Place Centre, Markham Stouffville Hospital, Morneau Shepell Children’s Support Solutions, and York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB).
